Sustainability
at WISAG

The climate crisis is one of the most significant global challenges
of our time. That's why sustainability is at the heart of everything we do,
as we work together to turn the seemingly impossible into reality.

Our path to a sustainable future

As one of Germany’s leading service companies, we understand the environmental impact of our actions. We take this responsibility seriously and set ourselves ambitious goals. Sustainability is not a fleeting trend for us but a long-term commitment. By intensifying our efforts, we aim to ensure a better future for both current and future generations. However, the challenges ahead can only be overcome together: with our 50,000 employees, we are dedicated to making every step count on the journey to a sustainable future.

For us, sustainability means acting in an environmentally friendly and fair way to secure a high quality of life on our planet for the future.

Michael C. Wisser,

CEO, WISAG Group

A Holistic Approach to Sustainability

Our sustainability strategy encompasses a comprehensive approach, balancing environmental limits, social justice, and economic stability. Alongside delivering sustainable services, we are committed to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions and fostering respectful, inclusive collaboration. We will be one of the first service companies in Germany to achieve carbon neutrality (Scope 1 and 2) by 2024. For any emissions that cannot be avoided by then, we will offset them through certified climate protection projects.

Driving the Energy Transition

Phasing out fossil fuels is central to mitigating the climate crisis and reducing our carbon footprint. That’s why we are focused on expanding our use of renewable energy. Our goal is to achieve maximum energy independence by 2024, producing 100% of the electricity we need through self-generated green energy, primarily from photovoltaics and wind power.

Green electricity from renewable sources is key to achieving energy independence and moving away from fossil fuels.

Solar Power for Energy Independence

Another key element of our sustainability strategy is installing photovoltaic systems on the roofs of our properties in Germany. In Frankfurt-Zeilsheim, 200 solar modules with a total output of 82 kWp now generate 75,000 kWh of green electricity per year, covering the location’s entire electricity requirements.

Electrification of Our Vehicle Fleet

We began introducing electric vehicles a decade ago and are now committed to converting our entire fleet to electric vehicles by 2030, except for specialised vehicles where alternatives are not yet available. As of March 2023, our top two management levels have fully switched to electric vehicles, and we are expanding our charging infrastructure across our German sites.

Sustainable Services

The property sector holds vast potential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and conserving resources. Our services in the facility, industrial, and aviation sectors are geared towards sustainability. Our offerings range from energy optimisation of buildings to eco-friendly cleaning solutions and waste reduction. As part of our “Ready for Green” initiative, we are decarbonising aircraft handling by transitioning to electric ground support equipment. We’re more than just a service provider – with our expertise, we are also consultants and solution creators for our clients.

Social Responsibility

Our 50,000 employees are the backbone of our family-owned company, using their skills and expertise to support our clients – making the impossible possible, every day, around the clock. To support them, we offer an attractive work environment, opportunities for growth, and training programmes. Beyond that, we are committed to giving back to society. In February 2022, for instance, we rented a hotel for a year to provide Ukrainian women and children, fleeing the war, with a safe haven. With help from the German Red Cross Frankfurt, our employees, and generous donations, we were able to offer this vital support.

KiWIS Foundation

Since 2015, our KiWIS Foundation has been working to improve educational opportunities for children and young people. From daycare to study trips and tutoring, we believe that education is the cornerstone of a successful future. Learn more about the initiatives supported by the KiWIS Foundation (in German only).
